Karl Reed is a 2012 graduate of Newberry College in Newberry, SC with a degree in Physical Education/Teacher Certification with a minor in History and Coaching. There he was a nationally ranked Div. II Wrestler and a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. Karl is the Assistant Head Wrestling Coach/Recruiting Coordinator with Limestone College’s Wrestling program and is a Wrestling instructor at Ray Thompson’s Upstate Karate in Simpsonville, SC.
After the passing of one of his athletes, Karl developed a love for Mixed Martial Arts. This became his outlet and later a passion. He is currently a professional MMA fighter, under Pitch Black MMA out of Simpsonville, SC, where he held an amateur record of 5-0 and is ranked #2 in the southeast for light heavyweights. Karl is very passionate about working with the youth in the community and providing a safe, fun, and educational environment for them to grow both mentally and physically. He plans to open Get Active Summer Camps in the Upstate area of South Carolina, where the mission is to provide the finest camp experience through a blend of Education, sports and fun that will last a life time. He wants his campers to experience and learn how to maintain an active healthy lifestyle.
Karl is married to Quiana Anderson Reed, who is the reigning Mrs. South Carolina United States 2016. Karl is committed to assisting his wife with her platform which is empowering young people through character education and mentoring programs. Karl is currently pursuing his MBA at Limestone College.
