Taylor SaNise Ferguson was born and raised in Atlanta Georgia where she began dancing with Ballethnic Academy of Dance. She continued her more advance and pre-professional studies with the Georgia Ballet. Ms. Ferguson spent summers training with Orlando Ballet, Georgia Governors Honors Program and Dance Theatre of Harlem on scholarship.
Taylor attended the University of South Carolina on a dance merit scholarship. While in college she was a member of the USC Dance Company performing many works including Balanchine's Stars and Strips, Twyla Tharp's Deuce Coupe, Lila York's Celts. Taylor was also recognized as a Magellan Scholar in 2011 for her research on the impact video technology and dance in a public high school in South Carolina. She also conducted research on how dance affected the lives and healing process of women living in transitional housing while recovering from addictions. While in college Ms. Ferguson found a passion for outreach work though dance and taught several movement based classes to parents and children in homeless shelters. Ms. Ferguson is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Ms. Ferguson graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Dance Education k-12 certification and a B.S. in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Health Fitness.
After graduation Ms. Ferguson began her professional performing career spending a year with Dayton Contemporary Dance Company in the 2nd company, directed by Shonna Hickman- Matlock located in Dayton OH. She then spent a season with Washington Reflections Dance Company in Washington DC. Ms. Ferguson currently resides in Atlanta GA where is has also performed professionally with Dance Canvas and Ballethnic Dance Company. She is currently on staff at Atlanta Ballet as a dance instructor and Centre for Dance Education Associate. She is also on staff at Dance Academy West as a dance instructor. Ms. Ferguson continues to perform throughout the Atlanta area and is currently enrolled in 200hr yoga teacher certification.
