The Rebel Award was established in 2016 by the 7 R.E.B.E.L.S, Spring 2011 initiates of the Theta Nu Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. at the University of South Carolina. They see change as a necessity - not to bring discourse to the norm - but to bring growth to the current. With a rebellious mindset, these men think forward, outside of the box, and above the standard in order to push the status quo higher in strides for a brighter future.

The annual scholarship is a $1,500 award given to a young man or woman who is an incoming freshman or rising sophomore at a South Carolina collegiate institution. The applicant must see the responsibility within their rebellious qualities, drive, vision, and action.
