The Tywanza Sanders Scholarships was established by the friends of the whom the award is named after in order to provide pathways to education and academic excellence for students through out many areas in the Carolinas. Education advocate and visionary TyWanza Sanders was a figure in the formation of Race For Achievement which has already impacted students, and will continue to impact more.

On June 17, 2015, TyWanza's life was tragically and senselessly cut short. A victim of the Charleston, S.C. terror attack that led to the death of 9 parishioners of the Emanuel A.M.E. Zion Church, he now serves as an endless inspiration in the fight for educational opportunity for under-served students. In reflex to his death, Race For Achievement moved to rename their original scholarship after TyWanza and A.Bevy became a partnering sponsor for the scholarship existence and TyWanza's everlasting legacy.

The TyWanza Sanders Scholarship goes to a graduating senior at James Island Charter High School and Burke High School in Charleston, SC. This year there will be two (2) recipients both being awarded $500. If you are a student at either high school, applications are available in your guidance office.
